In most cases, the installation of a new lawn will put the finishing touch on your new landscape project. There are many options to choose from when installing your new lawn, such as sod, hydro-seed or grass seed. Many variables should be taken into consideration when deciding on what type of grass should be installed, such as: how much of your overall budget can be allocated towards the installation of your new lawn; how much sun or shade is present in your yard, the soil type and if you'll have and automatic sprinkler system installed.
Regular grass seed will be least expensive, but using grass seed will require time and patience to develop a healthy lawn. Hydro-seed is very similar to a seeded lawn with few exceptions: Hydro-seed is sprayed on rather than applied using a grass seed spreader. This process uses a tackifier that can be added to the spray to help minimize erosion. Customers rarely enjoy the look of straw lying around, therefore, Hydro-seeding allows for a cleaner looking finished product. The installation of Hydro-seed will reduce the amount of time required to developa lawn versus grass seed, without sacrificing durability. Overall, some families feel that the additional cost associated with Hydro-seeding is well worth the expense.
The most popular product when installing a new lawn or repairing an existing lawn, is usually Sod. Many homeowners desire the the instant gratification they feel once the Sod has been installed and the project is complete. Unfortunately, Sod is the most expensive to install and requires a considerable amount of care in order to guarantee a successful lawn. An automatic sprinkler system should be installed whenever Sod is being used for a new lawn, where a sprinkler system usually is not required for a seeded lawn.
As you can see, the are many choices when deciding on what type of grass to install. Ask your Creative Outdoor Designer for their recommendations when deciding on what type of grass would best fulfill the requirements of your residential or commercial property.
